PD pays highest rent for party headquarters as Lega’s Milan office costs €30,000 monthly

Financial disclosures for Italian political parties show the Partito Democratico (PD) paying the steepest rent for its national headquarters. The historic Nazareno building in Rome costs the PD €41,600 per month, about €500,000 annually for roughly 3,300 m².

The Lega’s historic office on Via Bellerio in Milan incurs a monthly outlay of just over €30,000 (annual €370,523). The party’s lease agreement is recorded at €320,000 per year (€26,666 per month), with extraordinary maintenance and restoration costs pushing total expenses above €390,000 in 2024. The property is owned by a Lega‑controlled financial entity, and a subsidiary office in Rome is provided free of charge under a usufruct agreement.

Other parties’ rental costs are lower: Forza Italia pays about €16,000 per month for its Via in Lucina premises; Fratelli d’Italia spends roughly €13,000 per month for its Via della Scrofa site; and the Movimento 5 Stelle’s rent is the lowest at €12,000 per month.
