Italian dioceses celebrate Day for the Care of Creation

Dioceses across Italy held celebrations for the 17th Day for the Care of Creation, focusing on the intersection of faith, ecology, and peace.

In Colleferro, the dioceses of Velletri-Segni and Frascati collaborated for the first time to host the event at the “Laudato Sì” Garden. The gathering addressed the link between environmental destruction and armed conflict, noting that modern warfare technologies impose high social and ecological costs. Local officials noted that Colleferro’s history in arms production makes the garden a symbol of territorial redemption.

In Guglionesi, the Diocese of Termoli-Larino marked the occasion at the Stella Maris hermitage. The event included a Mass and the symbolic planting of a young holm oak tree, representing a commitment to spiritual renewal and ecological responsibility.
