Italian dioceses release materials for National Day of Prayer for abuse survivors

Italian dioceses, including Carpi and Melfi-Rapolla-Venosa, have released materials for the VI National Day of Prayer for victims and survivors of abuse, scheduled for November 18, 2026.

The theme for the upcoming pastoral year, “Listening that heals, community that rebuilds,” emphasizes the interconnectedness of listening and care as relational postures necessary for human recognition. According to Chiara Griffini, the theme calls the community to move beyond indifference by taking concrete actions and shared responsibilities to support those in pain.

The spiritual guidance for the day draws on the biblical account of the burning bush, focusing on a God who not only stays close to the suffering but also works to liberate them.
