Italian duo Cottafava and Dal Corso knocked out in Elite16 Rio beach volleyball

Samuele Cottafava and Gianluca Dal Corso, the sole Italian pair in the Elite16 beach‑volleyball tournament in Rio de Janeiro, were eliminated in the round of 16. They lost to the Brazilian team of Evandro Lanci and Arthur Lanci in a tie‑break, 2‑1 (21‑23, 21‑19, 15‑11).

The Italians had entered the main draw as lucky losers after a comeback win over the Dutch pair Luini/Immers. Their next assignment is the European Championships in Poland, where they will compete in Pool G alongside teams from Poland, England and Switzerland.
