Italian Education Minister Valditara defends technical institute reform in Parliament

On 15 July, a televised question‑time session from the Montecitorio chamber hosted Italy’s ministers of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, and of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso. Valditara answered parliamentary inquiries about the technical institute reform introduced under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). He emphasized that the reform will not lead to the loss of teachers’ tenured positions, citing specific safeguards in recent decrees, operational notes issued on 19 March 2026, and agreements with the major teachers’ unions (CISL, UIL, SNALS, GILDA, ANIEF, CGIL). He also referred to the “4 + 2” model and highlighted the low turnout (about 6 %) in the 6 May teachers’ strike.

Urso, in turn, responded to questions on measures to support the artisan sector linked to Gianduiotto production, the continuity of the Stellantis Mirafiori plant, service‑contact and assistance sectors, the extension of special‑economic‑zone simplifications nationwide, actions to curb rising energy and food prices, and protection of the Piombino steel site.
