Italian educators propose legal studies reform following youth violence
The National Coordination of Teachers of Human Rights (CNDDU) is calling for a structural reform of legal education in Italian schools following recent incidents of youth violence in Milan. The organization, led by Professor Romano Pesavento, argues that current civic education is insufficient and fragmented across various disciplines.
To address issues such as aggression, property damage, and clashes with law enforcement, the CNDDU proposes increasing dedicated hours for law studies and securing 300 million euros in investments for new hires. The group emphasizes that students need a systematic understanding of civil and criminal responsibility, the functioning of the justice system, and the legal consequences of their actions to foster true legality and respect for institutions.
