Italian Embassy hosts Peace Concert in Maputo

The Italian Embassy in Maputo, in partnership with the Xiquitsi Program, will host the second edition of the ‘Concerto pela Paz’ (Concert for Peace) at Cine-Teatro Scala on October 3. The event is part of the Mozita2026 cultural program.

The concert commemorates the 34th anniversary of the General Peace Agreement signed in Rome on October 4, 1992, which was mediated by the Italian Government and the Community of Sant'Egidio. It also marks the 800th anniversary of the passing of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The performance features a cultural exchange between Mozambican artists from the Xiquitsi Orchestra and Choir and musicians from the Luigi Boccherini Conservatory of Lucca. The repertoire includes Italian lyrical arias, orchestral pieces, and several world premieres, such as ‘United We Sing’ by Girolamo Deraco.
