Italian Embassy in Zagreb hosts Friendship Match football tournament

The Embassy of Italy in Zagreb organized the ‘Friendship Match,’ a triangular football tournament held to celebrate the third edition of the ‘World Day of Italian Sport.’ The event was conducted in collaboration with the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Croatian Bar Association.

Taking place at the Rudeš football field in Zagreb, the tournament featured three teams: the Italian Diplomats National Team, the Croatian Diplomats National Team, and the Croatian Lawyers National Team, known as ‘Advocatus.’ The Italian team emerged as the winner of the competition.

Italian Ambassador Paolo Trichilo, who participated in the matches, emphasized the importance of promoting Italian sport in Croatia. He praised the sportsmanship and fair play displayed by all participants, noting that the event aligns with the spirit of the United Nations’ 2024 establishment of the World Football Day, which recognizes football as a universal language that unites people across borders.
