Italian Embassy launches photography contest in Dominican Republic

The Embassy of Italy in the Dominican Republic has launched the first edition of the photography contest titled ‘Instantes de Italia: Italia a través de la mirada dominicana’ (Moments of Italy: Italy through the Dominican gaze). The initiative aims to celebrate how Dominican citizens perceive and represent Italian culture, landscapes, and traditions through imagery.

During the presentation event, Ambassador Sergio Maffettone emphasized that the contest serves as a bridge to strengthen historical and cultural ties between the two nations while fostering local creative talent. Celinés Toribio, executive director of the Institute of Dominicans and Dominicanas Abroad (INDEX), also highlighted the importance of initiatives that bolster bilateral identity and exchange.

The event included a musical performance by Italian violinist Eva Cammaro and was supported by sponsors including INDEX, NEOS Air, Casa de Italia, and Mionetto Prosecco.
