Italian emergency services sign Rome Declaration on AI use
Five major Italian emergency medical services organizations have signed the ‘Rome Declaration of Intent’ to establish a collaborative framework for using artificial intelligence in emergency response. The signatories include Ares 118 (Lazio), Seus 118 (Sicilia), Areu (Lombardia), Azienda Zero (Piemonte), and Areus (Sardegna).
The initiative aims to create a model of ‘shared intelligence’ to exchange experiences, use cases, and technical challenges related to AI in healthcare emergencies. The goal is to transform regional data and experiences into collective knowledge to improve response quality, safety, and efficiency. The framework emphasizes that AI should serve to support, rather than replace, the decision-making processes of medical professionals.
In related technological developments, Almaviva has launched ULTRA, a new AI framework designed to integrate global technological competencies for mission-critical sectors. Additionally, the CyberShield AI Italia event highlighted the evolving role of AI in cybersecurity, focusing on the need for improved governance and public-private partnerships to protect national strategic infrastructures.
