San Mauro Pascoli promotes Italian footwear for UNESCO candidacy
Stakeholders in San Mauro Pascoli are launching a formal initiative to have the art of Italian footwear recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The campaign is supported by several key organizations, including the Cercal International School, Assocalzaturifici, Museimpresa, and the Politecnico Calzaturiero.
A dedicated conference scheduled for October 24 at Villa Torlonia will bring together institutions, entrepreneurs, and academics to discuss the cultural identity and memory associated with the footwear district. The event will feature representatives from the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and various industry leaders to foster a dialogue between established professionals and the new generation of shoemakers.
