Italian experts study Turkish shepherd dogs in Eskişehir

A team of 10 expert dog trainers from Italy conducted a month-long field study in Eskişehir, Turkey, to analyze the characteristics and protective instincts of Turkish shepherd dogs. Led by trainers including Christopher Paoletti and Elisa Malacrida, the group observed the dogs' social dynamics, flock protection abilities, and territorial defense mechanisms.

The experts noted a significant behavioral difference between Italian and Turkish breeds. While Italian dogs typically use barking to deter threats, the Turkish shepherd dogs were observed actively confronting predators such as wolves and bears.

The study, hosted by local farmer Süleyman Savran, involved observing how the dogs interact with sheep and manage leadership roles within the flock. The team intends to use their collected data and analyses to promote the specific character and working discipline of Turkish shepherd dogs in Italy.
