Italian factories Teva and Coperion postpone closures, plan layoffs

The Italian subsidiary of the Israeli pharmaceutical group Teva agreed with national and territorial trade unions to halt dismissals at its Villanterio plant until spring 2027 and to postpone the plant’s closure to December 2027. Negotiations are ongoing for voluntary exits at the Rho and Caronno Pertusella sites, and the parties have asked the Ministry of Labour to extend the administrative phase of the collective lay‑off procedure until September 2026.

In Ferrara, the engineering firm Coperion announced a procedure that could lead to the dismissal of 80 workers. A delegation of the Fratelli d'Italia party visited the site, and regional leader Alessandro Balboni condemned the plan as “inaccettabile e indifendibile” (unacceptable and indefensible), urging the Ministry of Enterprises to intervene and calling for a permanent dialogue table with the company.
