Italian families demand school reforms and smartphone bans
A new report from the Centro Internazionale Studi Famiglia (CISF) reveals significant educational demands from Italian families. According to the CISF Family Report 2026, 70% of families support a ban on smartphones in classrooms. Additionally, 80% of respondents are calling for increased digital and affective education, while emphasizing the family's role as the primary educational entity.
Separately, the M. E. D. A. Nazionale Puglia has raised concerns regarding new school schedules in the Foggia region. The association warns that extended school hours, lasting until 14:00 for primary students, create significant challenges for children with disabilities, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Miriam Ventura, Regional Secretary of M. E. D. A. Puglia, stated that these schedules force families to choose between the right to education and the right to necessary rehabilitative therapies, such as speech therapy and ABA, which must now be squeezed into the afternoon.
