Italian families to receive July 2026 universal allowance and reinstated 500‑euro food card

In July 2026 Italy's universal family allowance (Assegno unico) will be credited on two dates: existing beneficiaries who have not changed their application will receive payments on 20‑21 July, while the last week of July (approximately 27‑31 July) will see first‑time payments, updated amounts and any arrears. To obtain arrears, families had to submit a revised ISEE declaration by 30 June; those who missed the deadline will keep the basic allowance but lose the arrears.

A separate measure, the reinstated "Carta Dedicata a Te," provides a one‑off €500 pre‑paid card for low‑income households to purchase essential food items. The 2026 edition is funded with €500 million, and eligibility is automatic through INPS based on an ISEE not exceeding €15,000, with priority for families of at least three members and minors. The card is distributed via municipalities and Poste Italiane, with the first recharges planned for October. It can be used only for basic groceries and excludes alcohol, while participating stores offer additional discounts.
