Italian father‑son duo Mario and Leonardo Gabrieli welcomed in Samsun

Italian traveler Mario Gabrieli and his 11‑year‑old son Leonardo continued a roughly 20,000‑kilometre world tour that began in Australia with a stop in Samsun, Turkey. The pair were received by the Atakum Sailing and Yacht Sports Club, where they spent the day with young club members.

Leonardo tried sailing for the first time, joining the youths on a single boat and quickly making friends despite language differences. Both father and son praised the warm hospitality and highlighted how sport fostered cultural exchange and lasting memories. The club, affiliated with the Turkish Sailing Federation since 2022, said the encounter underscored its mission to promote sailing among youth and support international friendship projects.
