Italian Finance Police bust counterfeit fashion patch ring, seize equipment and fine buyers

The Guardia di Finanza in Ascoli Piceno, coordinated with the Teramo prosecutor's office, uncovered a large-scale operation producing and selling counterfeit fashion patches. The investigation, triggered by monitoring e‑commerce platforms, identified an individual business that offered about 17,000 patches bearing logos of brands such as Nike, Armani, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Blauer and Levi’s on sites like eBay and Vinted.

A raid on the suspect’s workshop in San Benedetto del Tronto seized two sophisticated machines for serial production of the fake labels, computer equipment, and roughly 800 ready‑to‑sell patches. The owner was sentenced in first‑instance, abbreviated proceedings to eight months’ imprisonment and a fine. Computer‑forensic analysis linked 779 buyers across Italy, who together were ordered to pay administrative penalties totaling around €470,000 for purchasing the illegal goods.
