Italian firms launch immersive training simulators and voice‑controlled cobots

Techstar, an Italian XR and AI specialist, created immersive simulation modules that ABB Motion Service now uses in its technical training programme. The modules reproduce real‑world conditions of ABB frequency converters in a fully portable virtual environment, allowing trainees to practice commissioning tasks at ABB’s Training Center in Lucca or remotely at client sites. Sessions are run as timed, team‑based competitions with real‑time teacher support, and the CEO Luca Chiabrera says the solution lets users train safely on complex equipment.

Omitech, based in Padova and Rome, introduced BOCIA – a voice‑controlled cobot platform designed for small and medium‑size manufacturers. Funded by the EU’s Next Generation programme via the IRISS grant, BOCIA combines a large‑language‑model interface, 3D stereoscopic cameras and a digital‑twin of the work cell to coordinate collaborative robots. The company estimates the system can cut robot‑setup time by 40‑60%, boost productivity by 20‑35% and reduce cobot‑related accidents by up to 70%, while remaining vendor‑agnostic.
