Italian football agent groups demand crackdown on illegal practices

The Italian Association of Football Agents (IAFA) and the Italian Association of Agents of Footballers and Companies (AIACS) issued a joint statement warning that irregular conduct by unlicensed sports agents has become widespread and unsustainable in Italy. They urged the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Serie A, Serie B, Lega Pro, Lega Dilettanti, the Italian Players' Association (AIC) and other bodies to inform their members about the national professional regulations (D.P.C.M. n. 218/2025) and the criminal penalties under article 348 of the Penal Code.

The associations highlighted that many illicit agencies operate through foreign‑registered “Chinese‑box” structures, employing Italian residents and acting as intermediaries for clubs and players. They also pointed to the possible complicity of club executives and athletes who deal with unregistered agents, calling for reports to be sent to investigative authorities.

The statement stresses that the proliferation of such activities threatens the credibility of football institutions and undermines the legislative work carried out with the support of professional bodies.
