Italian football clubs split over FIGC presidency race
Serie A clubs are divided into two primary factions as the race for the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) presidency intensifies. The contest features Giovanni Malagò and Adriano Galliani, with candidates required to submit their names by November 4 and the vote scheduled for December 14.
Currently, the support is split evenly among major clubs. Malagò has secured backing from Monza, Napoli, Roma, Lecce, and Bologna, with Torino potentially joining his camp. Conversely, Galliani has the support of Inter, Atalanta, Milan, Como, and Genoa.
Several clubs remain undecided and could prove decisive in the outcome. Sassuolo and Cagliari are reportedly leaning toward Galliani, while the position of Juventus remains unclear. Analysts note that ten votes would be sufficient to block Malagò, potentially leading to a political stalemate within the federation.
