Italian football fan violence sparks investigations of 45 Sampdoria ultras and five Cesena youths

On 27 December 2025, the Genoa prosecutor opened investigations into 45 Sampdoria ultras for storming the tribune at Luigi Ferraris stadium and confronting former club president Matteo Manfredi. Six of the suspects are minors. They are charged under article 6‑bis of the stadium security law, which carries up to one year of imprisonment, a fine of up to €5,000 and the possibility of a DASPO stadium ban.

In Cesena, five men aged 20‑25 are being sent to trial for a racially‑motivated assault on a 30‑year‑old Albanian man on 12 October 2025 near the city’s cathedral. The victim recounted that he was struck with a metal bar and punched, sustaining multiple injuries. Prosecutor Emanuele Daddi has requested indictment; the accused have already received a cumulative 25 years of DASPO bans for the incident.
