Italian Football Federation Sets 2025/26 Amateur Transfer Windows and Faces Coach Appointment Debate
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has published the official schedule for the 2025/26 amateur football transfer windows. For 11‑a‑side clubs, transfers, contract terminations and releases run from 1 December to 18 December 2025; for 5‑a‑side clubs, the window runs from 2 January to 2 February 2026. Volunteer players can be released between 1 December and 15 December 2025, after which they may register with another club until 31 March 2026. Players who resolve contracts may re‑register only until 31 January 2026. Loan agreements have specific resolution deadlines, with LND loans ending by 18 December 2025 (or 30 November 2025 for a further move) and professional loans ending by 2 February 2026 (or 1 January 2025 for a further move).
Separately, former football official Massimo Mauro criticised the FIGC’s handling of recent tensions, urging the federation to present a prepared, transparent plan for the national team’s future. He highlighted the need for a clear decision on the head coach, mentioning Roberto Mancini, Antonio Conte and Thiago Motta as possible candidates, and called for President Gianmarco Malagò to take direct responsibility for the national side’s direction.
