Italian Garlasco murder investigation intensifies over disputed receipt and magistrate's memory

Attorney Antonio De Rensis, defending Andrea Sempio, reignited debate over the famous parking receipt from Vigevano that Sempio has claimed as an alibi in the 1997 murder of Alberto Stasi. De Rensis said, “Sappiamo tutti cosa è quello scontrino,” urging investigators to scrutinise the quality of the evidence.

During a recent hearing, magistrate Antonio Cassese repeatedly responded “non ricordo” when asked about details of the case, prompting prosecutor Fabio Napoleone Civati to press for clarification. The testimony forms part of the latest phase of the Garlasco inquiry, which continues to examine the credibility of the receipt and other forensic findings as investigators seek to resolve lingering doubts about the homicide.
