Italian government adds eight police units to Crotone for summer security

The Italian interior ministry announced the deployment of eight additional police operational units to the province of Crotone. The reinforcement is part of the 2026 Summer Surveillance Enhancement Plan, aimed at bolstering public safety during the peak tourist season when the number of residents and visitors rises sharply.

Undersecretary for the Interior Wanda Ferro highlighted that the extra personnel will increase police presence, improve prevention and control activities, and support the local economy by ensuring a safer environment for citizens, businesses and tourists.

The measure reflects a broader policy focus on strengthening law‑enforcement resources in Calabria and is presented as a concrete response to community security needs.
