Italian fishing sector receives €10 million fuel tax credit and plans fleet renewal

The Italian government has allocated €10 million in a fuel‑tax credit for professional fishing companies, covering up to 20 % of diesel and gasoline expenses incurred in March‑May 2026. Applications must be submitted by 20 July 2026, and officials said the fund should be sufficient, with a possible increase if needed.

At a national event marking Federpesca’s 65th anniversary, the federation’s president urged the government to adopt a comprehensive national fishing plan, emphasizing fleet renewal, digitalisation, and sustainable practices. Minister Francesco Lollobrigida highlighted upcoming investments and the role of the credit in supporting the sector.

Separately, the Italian Naval League (LNI) and the Federation of Italian Sport Fishing, Diving and Fin‑Swimming (FIPSAS) signed a three‑year partnership to promote aquatic sports, environmental projects and safety training, reinforcing the broader maritime ecosystem linked to the fishing industry.
