Italian grocery chains expand with new store openings

The Italian retail sector is seeing significant expansion from major grocery chains. iN’S Mercato has surpassed 580 stores in Italy following the simultaneous opening of two new 900-square-meter locations in Cisliano (Milan) and Castell’Alfero (Astigiano).

The new iN’S Mercato stores feature modern amenities such as LED lighting, renewable energy-powered climate control, and specialized fresh food departments, including organic produce, fish, and meat. The expansion strategy focuses on both metropolitan areas and provincial commercial hubs.

In Monza, the Iperal chain is set to open a new 2,500-square-meter supermarket on September 30 at the former Colombo site. This location will include a bar-bistrot format for quick meals and serves as part of a larger urban redevelopment project for the area.
