Italian groups call for stronger protection of Valsorda lake and Garda bike path
The Naturalist Association of Gualdo has renewed its request for authorities to enforce conservation measures for the karstic lake of Valsorda in the Monte Maggio – Monte Nero Special Protection Area, citing ongoing livestock use and waste as threats to the water quality and rare species. The association urges stricter monitoring and application of Natura 2000 safeguards.
Separately, the legal‑environmental group GrIG has lodged a public‑access request with the Ministry of the Environment, regional and provincial bodies, and the courts for a detailed review of the environmental impact assessment of the Garda Lake cycling path. GrIG questions whether the project has completed the required impact studies and obtained all necessary permits, warning of possible damage to the lake shoreline and surrounding landscape.
