Italian groups unveil climate‑focused urban renewal plans

The association Acli Terra has launched a proposal to create local consortia that would regenerate post‑war rural and coastal buildings across Italy. The plan calls for vertical gardens, water‑reuse systems, green infrastructure and circular use of existing sites, aiming to improve energy efficiency, public health and local economies.

In the Lombard town of Lainate, officials presented the "Lainate 2030" masterplan, earmarking €12 million to redevelop the former Podere Toselli site and redesign Viale Rimembranze. The scheme includes a green boulevard with tree‑lined streets, a central cyclist‑pedestrian lane, expanded public spaces and measures to curb urban heat‑island effects.

Separately, the environmental group Legambiente criticised Brescia’s Air and Climate Plan, saying it lacks bold measures. The association highlighted opaque data from utility A2A, limited incentives for citizens and businesses, and called for a comprehensive ZTL for the historic centre, describing the plan’s actions as "Manca il coraggio delle scelte importanti" (lacking the courage for important choices).
