Italian Guardia di Finanza recovers €142,000 and seizes 400 kg sea urchins in Manfredonia
The Sezione Operativa Navale of Manfredonia, coordinated by the Reparto Aeronavale of the Guardia di Finanza in Bari, carried out a maritime economic‑financial inspection. Inspectors uncovered multiple administrative violations, including demanial, environmental and illegal‑building offences, and identified unpaid demanial fees totaling €142,000 along with missing local tax payments.
During the patrol, authorities seized about 400 kg of sea urchins, roughly 100 kg of assorted fish and related fishing equipment. Waste‑management irregularities were also recorded, resulting in administrative fines of €11,000. The operation is part of the Guardia di Finanza’s continuous 24‑hour monitoring of Italy’s territorial waters to protect public revenues, the environment and legitimate economic activity.
