Italian Guardia di Finanza steps up security operations in Sicily
On 17 June, General Roberto Manna, Regional Commander of the Guardia di Finanza for Sicily, visited the provincial command in Caltanissetta. The inspection marked his farewell before his regional term ends, and he praised personnel for their investigative work that safeguards legality, honest citizens and public resources.
Later, a provincial security committee meeting in Messina, chaired by Prefect Cosima Di Stani and attended by police, fire, health and local officials, agreed to reinforce vigilance in tourist and nightlife areas. Additional officers will be deployed on weekends, and coordinated inspections will address illegal behavior such as fights, alcohol or drug abuse and noise violations.
Both actions highlight a coordinated effort by Italian law‑enforcement agencies to strengthen public safety across Sicily’s urban and tourist zones.
