Italian health agencies roll out drug‑detection kits in Palermo and new health‑info series in Catania

In Palermo, city councillors Domenico Bonanno and Viviana Raja have formally asked the regional health authority (ASP) to start a prevention project against drug‑facilitated sexual assault, modelled on the "Io mi Proteggo" initiative. The proposal calls for free distribution of rapid test kits that detect substances in drinks, a broad education campaign targeting schools, nightlife venues, pharmacies, families and anti‑violence centres, and the creation of a territorial network involving local institutions.

In Catania, the provincial health authority (ASP) has launched the third edition of its digital series "Pillole di Prevenzione", delivering short videos on public‑health topics via Facebook, Instagram and its website. The eight‑episode edition begins with advice on protecting skin from ultraviolet rays, aiming to turn scientific information into clear, actionable guidance for the public. Director Giuseppe Laganga Senzio emphasized that "prevention is the most effective investment in health and communication is essential to make it accessible to everyone."
