Italian health experts flag wellness obsession and food misinformation

Experts say the modern wellness movement can become obsessive, causing stress, anxiety and what is being called “wellness fatigue.” Jo Woodhurst, director of nutrition and education at Ancient + Brave, warns that complex daily routines and costly gadgets are presented as essential, turning self‑care into a source of cortisol‑inducing pressure.

At the same time, professor Matteo Micucci of the University of Urbino has published a book that tackles the spread of fake news about food. He argues that contradictory diet advice, influencer hype and marketing disguised as science create confusion around sugar, gluten, lactose and super‑foods. Micucci’s guide aims to give readers a way to spot false claims and make informed nutritional choices.

Both pieces underscore how post‑pandemic social media amplification fuels extreme health trends and misinformation, urging a more balanced, evidence‑based approach to personal well‑being.
