Italian health workers' contract and wage delays spark concerns

A draft collective bargaining agreement for Italy's health sector, the CCNL Sanità 2025‑2027, was signed by unions at Aranil on 29 July 2026. The proposal outlines salary table increases for operatori socio‑sanitari (OSS), raising the gross monthly wage by €43.70 from 1 Jan 2025, €87.40 from 1 Jan 2026 and €112.60 from 1 Jan 2027, along with higher patient‑care allowances, new holiday guarantees and changes to assignments, training and work organization. The agreement remains a hypothesis pending final public‑employment contract checks and definitive signing before any raises or back‑pay can be applied.

Meanwhile, health‑service workers employed by public‑contracted companies in the Rieti area have protested delayed salary payments. Union representatives report that wages were paid a week late in the first month of the new contractor’s management and that the 14th‑month bonus was postponed to the following month. The contractor cited cash‑flow issues from delayed invoice collections. Unions are demanding that payments be made on schedule, emphasizing the impact on families and the essential nature of the public‑health services provided.
