Italian healthcare facilities enhance breast cancer screening services

Healthcare facilities in Italy are enhancing breast cancer prevention through new technologies and mobile services. In Pistoia, the Azienda Usl Toscana Centro is utilizing a mobile mammography unit to bring screening services directly to local women. The diagnostic process is further supported by advanced contrast-enhanced mammography at the Pistoia Senological Radiology department to improve lesion detection accuracy.

In Turin, the Piccola Casa della Divina Provvidenza-Cottolengo, in collaboration with the Reale Foundation, has inaugurated two new state-of-the-art digital mammography machines for its Breast Unit. This investment aims to strengthen early diagnosis and care for mammary pathologies. The hospital's diagnostic senology department reported performing over 50,000 services in 2024.
