Italian healthcare orders dispute biologist profession decree
A dispute has emerged regarding the proposed updates to DPR 328/2001, which regulates the profession of biologists in Italy. The Federation of National Orders of Medical Radiology Technicians, Technical Health Professions, Rehabilitation, and Prevention (Fno Tsrm e Pstrp) is calling for parliamentary corrections to the decree currently under review.
The Fno Tsrm e Pstrp argues that the text must clearly define the boundaries of biological activities to safeguard the existing competencies and responsibilities of other healthcare professions. They cite an opinion from the Council of State (Parere n. 1343/2026), which warned that the detailed list of activities in the new draft could create confusion or the impression of overlapping jurisdictions, potentially leading to legal disputes between professional orders.
Vincenzo D’Anna, President of the National Federation of Orders of Biologists (Fnob), has responded to these claims, characterizing the opposition as an attempt to obstruct necessary professional updates. He maintains that the changes are essential for a multidisciplinary approach to modern healthcare and science.
