Italian healthcare providers launch new prevention initiatives

Healthcare institutions in Italy are launching new initiatives focused on prevention and chronic disease management.

In Pavia, the Policlinico San Matteo has announced a series of free events for ‘Pink October,’ an international month dedicated to women's health awareness. The program includes a ‘Vax Day’ on October 15 for free HPV vaccinations for individuals aged 26 to 30, as well as sessions on reconstructive surgery and genetic prevention scheduled for October 20 and 27. These events are organized in collaboration with local associations such as Pavia Donna ADOS and aBRCAdabra.

In the Lombardy region, medical professionals met at the Ospedale Predabissi in Vizzolo to discuss the management of overweight and obesity. The meeting highlighted a pilot project led by Asst Melegnano Martesana, in partnership with ASST Spedali Civili di Brescia. This project aims to implement pathways for patients aged 6 to 55, following regional legislation that recognizes obesity as a chronic and relapsing disease. The initiative focuses on creating a coordinated network for prevention, diagnosis, and continuous care.
