Italian healthcare workers declare state of agitation in two regions
Healthcare workers in Italy have declared a state of agitation following labor disputes at two different facilities.
In the Brissogne prison, the FP CGIL Valle d’Aosta union has proclaimed a state of agitation due to deteriorating nursing conditions. The union reports staffing shortages, shifts exceeding twelve hours, and inadequate security for staff. Additionally, workers face a lack of necessary medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, alongside unpaid overtime. The union is calling for urgent intervention and formal dialogue to address these organizational and safety concerns.
In Florence, unions FP CGIL Firenze and CISL FP Fi-Po have declared a state of agitation at Valdisieve Hospital in Pelago. This action follows a corporate decision to close the facility's analysis laboratory and dismiss three employees. Labor organizers argue that the decision prioritizes economic profit over essential local healthcare services and have requested the Prefect of Florence to initiate conflict cooling and conciliation procedures.
