Italian heritage sites compete in FAI ‘I Luoghi del Cuore’ census
Various Italian sites are participating in the 13th edition of ‘I Luoghi del Cuore’ (Places of the Heart), a national census organized by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo. The initiative allows citizens to vote for their favorite Italian locations, with the goal of securing funding for restoration and enhancement projects.
In Magenta, the Santuario Santa Maria Assunta has entered the rankings. Local officials are calling for community support to help fund essential conservation and restoration work that has kept the sanctuary closed for several years. Voting for the census remains open until December 15, 2026.
In San Vito dei Normanni, Piazza Leonardo Leo has seen significant early success, surpassing 3,000 votes within just four days of its local campaign launch. This milestone is required to qualify for the FAI and Intesa Sanpaolo funding calls. The square currently holds the 27th position in the national rankings, ahead of several major historical sites.
