Italian heritage sites in Tuscany and Florence secure multi‑million euro renovation funds
The Tuscany regional council has allocated €207,061 for the refurbishment of the Bastione della Rimembranza in Grosseto. The funding, secured through an amendment presented by regional councillor Luca Minucci of Fratelli d'Italia, will cover environmental and accessibility improvements, removal of physical degradation, and integration of the monument into the urban context.
Separately, the Uffizi Galleries and associated sites in Florence will undergo a €50 million overhaul. Museum director Simone Verde announced a two‑year programme that includes museum‑wide re‑layout, restoration of artworks and historic spaces, upgraded security and climate‑control systems, new lighting, and expanded visitor services across the Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens.
