Italian hospitals implement art and technology to improve patient wellbeing
Healthcare facilities in Italy are implementing new initiatives to humanize patient care through art and technology.
At Policlinico Umberto I, a collaboration with RomaNatura has launched the ‘Immersione nel Benessere’ project. This initiative uses virtual reality to bring the marine environment of the Secche di Tor Paterno to patients in the Oncology Day Hospital and Pediatric wards, aiming to reduce tension and improve the care experience.
In Trieste, the Burlo Garofolo pediatric hospital has inaugurated a new mural by artist Giulio Masieri. The artwork, depicting a mother and baby giraffe with a child, is part of a larger 100,000-euro project to improve the hospital's external areas, including green spaces and parking security. The project aims to enhance the sense of welcome and comfort for children and their families.
