Italian hospitals rank highly in World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2027

Two Italian healthcare institutions have achieved significant recognition in the World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2027 rankings, compiled by Newsweek and Statista.

San Camillo-Forlanini in Rome has been named the top public hospital in Italy. It ranks 144th globally among 410 institutions, recognized for its integration of artificial intelligence, digital imaging, telemedicine, robotics, and advanced patient management systems. The hospital has focused on digitalizing clinical and administrative processes while strengthening cybersecurity in compliance with the European NIS2 directive.

In Southern Italy, the IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza in San Giovanni Rotondo has emerged as the leading smart hospital in the region. It holds the 10th position nationally. The facility utilizes advanced tools such as UpToDateAI Expert, a conversational AI interface that allows physicians to pose complex clinical questions based on verified medical-scientific content. The ranking evaluated institutions based on digital maturity, technological governance, and professional reputation across 33 countries.
