Italian hospitals report medical milestones in obstetrics and surgery

Medical facilities in Italy have reported significant milestones in obstetrics and gynecological surgery. At Ospedale Castelli in Verbania, the obstetrics and gynecology team recorded thirteen births within a 36-hour period. ASL VCO Director General Francesco Cattel noted the event as a testament to the professionalism and coordination of the medical, obstetric, and pediatric staff.

In Pescia, the SS. Cosma e Damiano hospital has implemented a new specialized pathway for treating uterine and bladder prolapse. Between June 15 and July 30, 2026, the team led by Professor Pasquale Florio performed eleven high-complexity minimally invasive procedures. The technique involves laparoscopic lateral suspension using a light prosthetic mesh, which allows for uterine preservation, reduced surgical trauma, and faster patient recovery.
