Italian inspections fine businesses for labor and food safety breaches

Italian authorities carried out inspections at commercial premises in Falciano del Massico, issuing fines of €274.83 to a café and a nearby shop for alleged violations of workplace safety rules and hygiene standards. The Carabinieri, supported by the Labor Inspection Unit and the Antifraud and Health Sanitation (NAS) of Caserta, said the owners had failed to provide preventive medical examinations for workers and lacked mandatory health‑and‑safety training. Both legal representatives were released pending further judicial investigation.

In a separate operation in Misterbianco, Sicily, a task force coordinated by the State Police examined a bakery and found large quantities of unlabeled food, leading to the seizure of 150 kg of products and a €1,000 fine. Inspectors also identified two undocumented employees, prompting a €5,000 penalty for the repeat offender and a temporary suspension of the bakery’s operation until labor compliance is restored.
