Italian internists to discuss medical complexity and AI at Capo d’Orlando congress
Internal medicine specialists in Italy are preparing for a congress in Capo d’Orlando from October 8 to 10 to discuss the future of the discipline, focusing on complexity, new technologies, and artificial intelligence.
A recent survey by Fadoi, the federation of hospital internist managers, highlights a significant shift in patient demographics. Over 75 percent of patients hospitalized in internal medicine departments are over 70 years old and suffer from more than four chronic diseases each.
In response to these evolving needs, medical professionals are advocating for a redesign of the National Health Service (SSN) and a reclassification of medical departments to better reflect the intensity of care required for these complex cases.
