Italian investigators conduct new forensic tests in Roberta Bertacchi death case

Forensic experts from the Carabinieri Ris unit are conducting new investigations into the death of 26-year-old Roberta Bertacchi, who was found dead on a balcony in Casarano on January 6, 2024. Following opposition from the victim's family regarding the dismissal of the case, authorities have ordered the exhumation of her body to perform technical assessments.

Investigators are focusing on the boots Bertacchi was wearing at the time of her death. These will be compared against footprints found at the scene, specifically on a canopy under the balcony and near the entrance door, following witness reports of someone kicking the door prior to the discovery of the body.

Davide Falcone, the victim's former partner, is under investigation for incitement to suicide. Falcone, who is currently under house arrest for drug-related offenses, is also scheduled to face trial in November for charges of domestic abuse involving physical and psychological violence against Bertacchi during their relationship.
