Italy's 2026 investment boom sees rise in M&A, venture capital and logistics real estate

The EY‑Parthenon Bulletin reports a strong dynamism in Italy’s investment sector during the first half of 2026, with notable growth in mergers‑and‑acquisitions (M&A), private‑equity, venture‑capital and digital‑infrastructure deals. About 700 M&A transactions were announced, an 18 % increase year‑on‑year, and 74 % of Italian CEOs say they will pursue M&A in the coming months, above the European average. Six‑eight‑in‑ten CEOs also plan to boost spending on artificial‑intelligence technologies. The report forecasts Italy’s gross domestic product to grow by 0.6 % in 2026, driven mainly by consumption and investment, and notes that nominal GDP rose 36 % between 2020 and 2025, outpacing Germany and France, while real GDP per capita grew 10‑11 %.

The JLL Italy analysis shows that logistics‑focused real‑estate investment reached €7.8 billion in the first half of 2026, up 34 % from the same period in 2025. The second quarter alone saw €4.3 billion of inflows, a 45 % annual rise, making it one of the strongest six‑month periods in five years. Retail led the segment with €2.45 billion (about 30 % of total), followed by industrial & logistics (€1.25 billion, +50 % YoY). Foreign investors contributed more than 75 % of total volume, with capital from the MENA region increasing sharply. Data‑center, healthcare and student‑housing assets are also highlighted as high‑growth prospects.
