Italian justice workers protest PNRR contract expirations

Approximately 1,600 workers hired through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the Italian Ministry of Justice face job insecurity as their contract extensions are set to expire on September 30.

The labor union Fp Cgil has organized nationwide mobilizations, including flash mobs and protests in cities such as Florence and Taranto, to demand the stabilization of these employees. The union argues that these workers have been instrumental in reducing judicial backlogs and improving services.

Fp Cgil is calling for an immediate extension of contracts until at least December 31 and is urging the government to allocate resources in the upcoming budget law for permanent hiring. The union has proposed amendments to parliamentary commissions to address the issue and prevent the loss of professional expertise within judicial offices.
