Italian labor disputes flare in Maddaloni and Siracusa
In Maddaloni, the unified trade union (RSU) of the urban‑hygiene construction site has formally declared a breakdown of relations with contractor Velia Ambiente. The union has invoked Law 146/90 to request a cooling‑off period and conciliation, citing non‑transparent promotions, failure to remit payroll deductions, unsafe site conditions and excessive workloads. The Prefect of Caserta and the municipal mayor have been asked to intervene.
At the ASP health authority in Siracusa, negotiations led by the extraordinary commissioner Gioacchino Iraci and director Ornella Monasteri have unlocked the payment of differential productivity bonuses and the 2025 incentive package for staff. The talks will also address the regulation of “agile work” and the restructuring of the readiness plan, aiming to improve staffing and service delivery despite limited funding and ongoing post‑COVID challenges.
