Italian law enforcement conducts bullying and cyberbullying awareness sessions in schools

Law enforcement agencies in Italy have held educational sessions for students to address bullying, cyberbullying, and the legal consequences of digital misconduct.

In Piazza Armerina, Police Commissioner Dr. Alberto Salerno met with students at the I.I.S.L. Da Vinci institute. The discussion focused on youth deviance, the importance of respectful social media use, and the legal tools available to combat cyberbullying. Specifically, the session highlighted the warning measure provided by Law no. 71/2017, which allows provincial public security authorities to issue monitoring orders to minors to prevent further illegal actions.

In Castiglione delle Stiviere, Carabinieri officers met with approximately 170 students from the Beschi secondary school. As part of a national project to promote a culture of legality, officers explained how online threats, insults, and other digital behaviors can carry criminal liability. The initiative emphasized recognizing signs of distress, reporting intimidation to adults, and the responsibility of bystanders to support victims and interrupt cycles of bullying.
