Italian lawmakers and supporters protest football away-game restrictions
Italian deputies and supporter organizations are calling for a review of ministerial restrictions on football away matches. Six members of parliament, including Alessandro Amorese and Roberto Traversi, issued a joint note to the Ministry of the Interior urging the government to distinguish between genuine security risks and peaceful supporters.
The lawmakers argue that frequent travel bans penalize families and fans who follow their teams peacefully, while also causing negative economic impacts on host cities through lost revenue for local businesses, hospitality, and catering services.
Simultaneously, the Italian Federation of Football Supporters (FISSC) expressed regret over recent restrictions, citing the Udinese-Lecce match as an example. In that instance, non-registered residents from Lecce were prohibited from traveling, preventing planned social gatherings and the traditional ‘third half’ conviviality intended by local fan groups.
